So, on August 27, 2011 I became a new mommy. Lee and I went to the Huron Valley Humane Society looking around to see if anyone grabbed our attention. Gracie would not accept anything less than our undivided attention from the moment we walked into the adult female cat room. She squawked and whined as we walked around the room thinking that she did that with every new visitor. We looked at other kitties who were quite sweet, but it all came down to her in the end. She wouldn't LET us look at anyone else without informing us that she was right and they were wrong.
Now, Gracie lives with us in our wonderful apartment, and whines all day long. She naps when we nap, she complains when we don't pet her, and she purs when we do. She has us trained already to come to her if she meows in a specific way!
She's incredibly intelligent and refuses to play with most of her toys. When we try to play with her with them she looks at us like we've lost our minds. She would rather be snuggling anyway. Below is a picture of Gracie snuggling with Lee on the couch. Typical afternoon at our place!

Ann Arbor DIY Festival!
So this weekend was a fun firsty! I was able to (finally) do a workshop with the Ann Arbor Free School! I met a wonderful new friend (Katy) at the Flojo Circus and we connected enough that she offered me the chance to be a guest workshop runner! It was so much fun! I was originally going to do gothic lolita top hats, but the plan fell through when they asked me to cut the workshop down to being a shortish workshop that people could just walk up to without actually planning to have joined in a workshop. I redid my plans and we (Katy and I) decided that I should do DIY paper corsages for the DIY prom that was to be held on Saturday.
In the end my 1 hour workshop turned into a 3 hour success. People kept coming over to do the craft, and they were excited to use all of my found objects and my recycled paper! It went so well that Free School has asked me back to do another workshop later in August! I'm so excited! It is my dream to be able to be an adult teacher instead of having to pull a lame 9 to 5. Below is a picture of the corsages that we made.

Sitting in the school's cafe. Drinking monster and chasing it with coffee to try to make it through the day.

Long Time Coming
So, I know. I haven't been updating as much as I was trying to. But heck have I been doing a LOT of crafting lately!
I've recently discovered a LOVE for steampunk and neo-victorian fashion. I've always loved victorian (I mean, there are so many parallels to our society now that it is sort of scary...) but I didn't realize there was such a following about it online. I've found some like-minded folks via etsy, and have been INSPIRED. It has been wonderful.
Actually, the inspiration seems to have infected my beau as well. He has been helping me make steam victorian stuff, which is really fun, seeing as he is FORCED to hang out with me for hours at a time!
I have found it a little difficult getting metal to stick to itself, and I'm wondering how these amazing artists on etsy do it! They are fantastic! Such as this! It is truly amazing work, and I want to achieve this ability at some point.
Until then, I will be playing with my metal bits, and hoping that they end up pretty. ^.^
I've also finished some cork stuff out of recycled wine bottle corks that my boss gave me. He's been wonderful all season about keeping all of the corks that come in and out of the restaurant in a jar for me and letting me take them home and do my crafts with them. I did a couple of little Christmas trees out of them yesterday while I was listening to the Amanda Palmer/Neil Gaiman/Kevin Smith podcast to benefit the Wayne Foundation (a group to raise money to stop child abuse, named after Batman, who is my idol.) It's been a good week. A long, but good week.
On top of ALLLLL of that nonsense ;) I've been totally dying under the weight of my exams for the end of the semester. I really cannot wait for Christmas break. I want to spend time with my family!
I promise I will put some pictures up tonight in return for some love from everyone!
Later guys!

Bag Bagger
So, I started to work on a couple of scrapbooks this past week, and in about a week I've finished 1 full book, 1 bag book, and I'm working on another book right now. Sometime later this week I will put up a tutorial on how to do the bag books!
Next month I'm going to try to sell these at the craft show as well. I heard from my boyfriends mother that they were selling them for quite a bit of money, and I think I do them well enough that I might be able to make a bit of money on it.
I hope I get some of them done this week, but school is back in session, so it is going to take me a bit more time to get things done. Oh well, I'll work on it.

Blarg
Black Friday went well. I got the mannequin that I wanted, and I got some new shoes and stuff for my kitchen (though I didn't get my cute matching towels yet). I didn't get Lee his present, the thing that I wanted to get him wasn't there, so I have to ebay it.
I'm out at his place for the evening, which is fun. I'm going on a trip to the corner store to get some munchies so I have something to do while he's at work.
I'm hungry.

Morning Glorious!
Good morning! Right now it is 7AM, but I was up at 4AM to get to Meijer today to get my sister a new laptop. Alas, we didn't get the laptop, because they didn't have anymore of them left, but it's ok. I still love them.
My mom gave me some money for Christmas today so that I could use it to go shopping for Black Friday. My mother bought me a new sewing mannequin, so you guys can look forward to me having lots of new fun things up on my site! I'm so excited! I've never had a mannequin before, so I think it will make my life much easier, and I will be able to see things as I'm making them for a while, which will help things to come out a bit more the way that I intend them when I design them!
I will try to get some photos up soon.
